sewing a bunch.....Stitch Camp!
This August 4 - 8, 2025 (10am-3pm) we will host our 5th annual Sewing a Bunch....STITCH CAMP!
Learn or grow your skills on a sewing machine....make a cozy quilt for the cool fall weather,
sew your own Halloween costume or create accessories or an outfit that you love.
Ages 8 to 14, beginners welcome and encouraged!
This year we will be working in our bright new Sewing Studio
and also have a working 1904 treadle sewing machine for all to try!
Camp is held at our family homestead in Ashfield MA at the top of a hill
with rolling farm fields and wide open views. Families often connect and establish carpools to make getting to us easier. We are about 30 minutes from Greenfield (Rt.2 to 112), South Deerfield (Rt. 116) and Northampton (via Rt.9 and 112)

Thank you for your interest in STITCH CAMP at Growing a Bunch Farm! You may know us as wool folks....but there is a lot more than knitting and felting that happen here. Lisa has dabbled in fashion design and DIY sewing projects since her teens; daughters Clara (19) and Lily (17) are talented sewists and designers. They both have the know-how to create advanced projects such as tailored outfits and full size quilts. Together, this mother-and-daughters team have a passion for natural fibers, recycled textiles and plant dying. We love to share our knowledge and hope to inspire others to create clothing and accessories that express their unique self while also learning how to minimize the effects of "fast fashion" on the environment.

We've got a great plan for this year's Stitch Camp:
- Day One: the fun begins! Dig through our large stash of fabric and find something you love. Next, choose a couple of patterns....we will have a variety of shapes, sizes and styles to choose from....tee-shirts, shorts, skirts and dresses....along with some fun Halloween and historical costumes.....something for EveryBody! Love to sew on the machine and don't want to spend time cutting out pattern pieces? Consider making a lap quilt to cozy up with when the cool weather comes!
- Next, we will cut the pattern and/or fabric in the Cutting Room.....lots of space to spread out and learn how to choose your size and what all those notches mean.
- Do you have a pattern or fabric at home that you've been wanting to use but just haven't found the time? Bring it along and we will make it happen! Likewise, if you have a sewing machine bring that as well. We have plenty of machines to use, but mastering your own will be a plus....and we can help you grow more comfortable changing out the thread and bobbin and learn the trickier skills like making buttonholes.
- By the end of the week you will go home with an outfit, quilt or costume that you created yourself and the satisfaction of knowing you have begun to build skills that last a lifetime.
- This week will be fun but also will require focus and concentration. While we will take a nice long break for lunch, social time, visiting our animals and a pasture walk, the majority of the day will be spent in three work spaces in our home. If your child loves to craft but also craves lots of outdoor time and has abundant physical energy then please consider our all-outdoors Fiber Arts Camp!
.
- healthful snacks provided each day!
Stitch Camp cost is $375 and includes all materials. Secure your child’s place at Stitch Camp by sending a $100 deposit as early as possible. The balance of $275 will be due by June 1st. To secure your child's spot, email Registration Form below to growingabunchfarm@gmail.com and send Venmo deposit of $100 to @lisa-fortin (last 5 digits 5595). Or you may print the form and drop it in the mail along with a check. Address is found on the registration form.
We are tick, poison ivy, sunburn and allergic aware. Let us know if you have any specific concerns and have your child bring along any sunblock or bug protection you prefer. Safety is priority! Shoes must be worn at all times unless playing in the grassy yard. We are a working farm and feet are safest in shoes. We use electric fencing for our sheep but no fence will be electrified during camp time.
Please do not hesitate if you have any questions!
